The Montana Range Tour is an annual event that is held in a different location of the state each year. The Tour provides the opportunity for farmers, ranchers, agricultural organizations, land management agencies and the general public to share information and gain increased expertise on natural resource issues, notably on agricultural lands.

The 2017 Tour took place in Petroleum and Fergus County areas, where the tour focused on large landscape projects, conservation easements, new technology for monitoring water and cattle, grazing management, and soil health.

The Northern Ag Networks Lane Nordlund shares an update on this years tour.

Very informative 2 day event. Thanks to the Fergus and Petroleum county conservation districts for organizing the event this year. If you are tired of doing the same old things year after year and need some fresh ideas to make your ranch more profitable and productive this is a great event to attend.

Winter Wheat Seedings Estimate Lowest in Over a Century

1/14/2018 6:42:00 PM
The report Friday showed 32.61 million acres planted. That was in fact down from last year, but more than 300,000 acres larger than the average trade guess and above all published trade guesses. This was the first time since 2012 for the USDA figure to be larger than the average trade estimate. It was only the second time since 2000, with the other being 2011. Futures had big fall rallies in both 2011 and 2012, which you might expect would result in a production response. This fall we were grinding lower. So what happened, and are there any implications? >> Read More
