Russell Nemetz

Russell Nemetz was raised in production agriculture along the Milk River Valley near Chinook, MT. It’s there his family continues to farm and ranch.

Russell graduated from Chinook High School where he was active in 4-H and FFA.

As an MSU-Billings student, he was selected by the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB), as one of the top three collegiate students in the nation and received an NAFB Foundation Scholarship. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Today, Russell is the Ag Director of the Northern Ag Network and coordinates the nation’s best Farm Broadcaster Team and staff. He’s in charge of news gathering, news editing, and broadcasting Ag news via radio to over 70 affiliated stations in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North and South Dakota. In addition, he does Ag news on television for 8 Montana Stations located in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Glendive, Great Falls Helena, Kalispell and Missoula; plus statewide television coverage on 5 Wyoming stations.

In 2002, Russell was named NAFB's West Regional and National Horizon Award Winner. He was the 2004 Wyoming Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society’s outstanding news reporter; has been awarded the USDA’s Certificate of Appreciation; and was the 2006 “Amigo” of the Wyoming Woolgrowers Association award winner.

He’s had the opportunity to report on Agriculture from across the region, the United States and has been on trade missions to Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Russia and Taiwan.

Today, Russell resides in Billings and has a son Tyler
