#1 Source for Animal Welfare Information? NOT HSUS!

A recent survey suggests consumers are going to animal protection agencies for livestock welfare information.

The following article is from the NAFB News Service:

A recent survey suggests consumers are using animal protection organization as their primary source of information about livestock welfare.  The study by Purdue University, Published in the Journal of Animal Science, indicated the ag industry is a less used source of public information for animal welfare.  Nearly 800 online surveys conducted concluded about half the respondents got their animal welfare information from groups like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) or the Humane Society of the United States, according to Meatingplace.

The researchers were investigating relationships between household demographics, geographic location and experiences and level of concern for animal welfare as well as sources used to obtain information.  Consumers reporting higher levels of concern about animal welfare more frequently identified themselves as female, younger and members of the Democratic Party. Midwestern consumers were less concerned than those from other regions.
