186 or 216? What Should the 2010 Wolf Quota Be?

by

While we wait for a judge to decide the future of the wolf hunting seasons in Montana and Idaho, the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will look at the proposed 2010 wolf hunting season quotas at their Commission meeting in Helena on Thursday.

Ron Aasheim with the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks spoke with Northern Ag this week.

He says that the numbers they are looking at for the second legal hunting season are more aggressive this year.

Ron mentioned that they’ll be voting on what the public will be considering.

He lined out when those comments will be taken.

While Ron didn’t have the exact number for what Idaho will be proposing, he did tell us he believes they will also be increasing their quota from last year.  Both of these hunting seasons are dependent on a decision from Judge Malloy in Missoula.  The hearing on whether or not we can continue with the hunt will be held on June 15, 2010.

The Montana FWP Commission meeting will be held on Thursday, May 13 in the old Supreme Court Chambers on the third floor of the Montana State Capitol in Helena.  It will begin at 8:30 a.m.  This is a change in location from the previous plans.
