1917 Montana Watering Hole

by

Montana towns – This Harlowton street scene is a window into the past.  Saloons, “rooms,” and a pool hall at “The Club” offering 5-cent beer are visible as well as a barber shop, a tin shop, and a specialty diamond and watch store, complete with a large clock on the sidewalk made to look like a pocket watch.  The time is about a quarter past eight in the morning, and merchants appear ready for business.

Harlowton, Montana, Central Ave., looking south, ca. 1917, photographer unidentified, MHS Photo Archives, catalog #PAc 2013-50 #1613
