2019’s Top 100 Seedstock Operations

Beef magazine recently released their Seedstock 100, listing the biggest seedstock producers in the beef industry by number of bulls marketed in 2018.

A lot of great seedstock operations in our part of the country. 33 of those top 100 operations are located in Northern Ag Network Country. With 18 in Montana, 9 in South Dakota, 4 in Wyoming and 2 in North Dakota.

 

These operations marketed over 56,000 bulls in 2018, down just slightly from last year but over 25% more than just 5 years ago.

The top 100 operations marketed 32 different breeds and composites last year, although the majority focused on 6 breeds. 72% of the operations offered Angus cattle down slightly, 23%red angus actually see more red angus, 14%Hereford, 13% sim-angus, 11% Charolias and 8% Simmental.
