American Sheep Industry: An Advocate for Sheep Producers

by

Billings, MT (February 17, 2016) – The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) recently held its 151st annual convention in Scottsdale, AZ. Several hundred producers and industry supporters gathered in the “Valley of the Sun” to discuss policy and also escape winter and have a little fun.

Burton Pfliger is the 2015-2016 ASI president. He’s also a third-generation sheep rancher who was born into the business and ranches near Bismarck, ND. Currently, Pfliger and his wife Pattie run approximately 400 ewes, which make up a purebred Hampshire flock, a purebred Suffolk flock and a flock of Rambouillet/Dorset cross commercial ewes.

During the ASI Convention, Pfliger shared his passion for the U.S. sheep industry and getting more people involved; both young and old.
