Bike to Work Week

by

National Bike to Work Month is celebrated coast to coast each May in an effort to promote the many benefits of biking. The event was established in 1956 and aims to encourage more people to give biking a try. Bike to Work Month was definitely not around when this photograph of Edgar Syverud was taken around 1902 in Sheridan County Montana.

This photograph was taken by Henry Syverud who was Edgar's brother. The brothers recorded the early history of the Montana frontier and their photographs are part of the Montana Historical Society collection. The Syverud brothers lived on a homestead between Coalridge and Dagmar, Montana.
