BILLINGS, MT (August 25, 2016) – Its already been a very busy summer for Montana farmers. In fact, this week’s USDA crop progress report shows 97{75e25ebeb47fb4337942be2c10689dca1c292c2a66240b62c5ca4214f5b25ecc} of the winter wheat and 53{75e25ebeb47fb4337942be2c10689dca1c292c2a66240b62c5ca4214f5b25ecc} of the spring wheat is harvested. Once this year’s crop is 100{75e25ebeb47fb4337942be2c10689dca1c292c2a66240b62c5ca4214f5b25ecc} cut and in the bin, the next big priority will be getting it marketed and off of the farm.
Greg Guthrie is the Marketing Director for BNSF Railway Agricultural Products and says they’ve made significant financial investments to help insure timely delivery of commodities like wheat from the farm to the world marketplace. The Northern Ag Network’s Russell Nemetz has this report.
