Brands Rerecord: The Clock is Ticking

by

The Montana Department of Livestock (MDOL) is reminding brand owners that all Montana brands must be rerecorded by December 31, 2011.

MDOL Brands Division administrator John Grainger said that while there may seem like plenty of time to rerecord brands, there’s no good reason to wait until the last minute.

“We’re encouraging people to rerecord their brands as soon as possible,” Grainger said. “There have been cases in the past where people didn’t rerecord their brands in a timely manner then forgot to do it and ended up losing their brands.”

“Online rerecord has been working great,” Grainger said. “It reduces the amount of time it takes brand owners to rerecord their brand(s), and  it saves the state time and money. What used to take weeks now takes about 10 minutes.”

Rerecord.mt.gov is fast and easy, and can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Brand owners can also rerecord brands via U.S postal mail, or in person at the department’s headquarters in Helena.

The online rerecord service is the result of an alliance between state government and the private sector. It was cooperatively developed and is supported by the Montana Department of Livestock, the Montana Department of Administration’s State Information Technology Services Division, and Montana Interactive, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment provider NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).
