Cattlemen’s Beef Board Chairman Resigns

by

Another day, another resignation within the Cattlemen’s Beef Board.  Tom Jones has now resigned from his position as Chairman of the CBB. In a letter to the Board, Jones said there are times when things become very clear and choices are not hard to make.

Hear Mr. Jones discuss his decision to leave the Board.

Jones apologized to the members of the Board that, in his words, truly want what’s best for every producer. He also stated that his resignation would not solve all of the issues before the Board suggesting they have a lot of work to do and that empty calls for getting along won’t get them anywhere.

Tom Jones’s resignation follows that of CEO Tom Ramey a short while back and both follow allegations of misconduct brought on the CBB by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

The U.S. Cattlemen’s Association and the National Farmers Union have called for intervention into the Beef Checkoff Program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the wake of these recent happenings.
