CBB, NCBA Work on Problems after Audit Refusal

by

The Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) are just beginning a series of meetings where discussions are focused on their mutual commitment to the Beef Checkoff and to working together in the future.  While their overall goals in promotion are in line with one another, conflict struck recently when the NCBA refused an audit from the CBB’s auditor.  In 2010, such an audit exposed errors that, although corrected, spiked controversy amongst the industry.

Wesley Grau, Vice-Chair of the CBB, spoke with Northern Ag Network about that refusal on Monday.

Wesley told us what they talked about in their last meeting and what the plan of action is between the two groups.

He also gave us some of the concerns that have been expressed by other national agriculture commodity organizations.

Wesley says that it is extremely important that trust is built within the industry.  With that, he says that they should be able to carry on and promote beef to the best of their ability for all producers in the United States.
