Celebrate the Historic Eclipse in style with the Great American Eclipse Burger

by

When the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse passes overhead on August 21, don't miss your chance to celebrate with friends and family in true cowboy style with the Great American Eclipse Burger.

The Wyoming Beef Council has created this quick, easy beef recipe in honor of the historic eclipse. The secret, of course, is in the sauce preparation. Grill your burgers to 160 degrees. On the bottom half of the bun, layer your favorite sauces for hamburgers. We used mayo, honey mustard, and ketchup. Then, using a toothpick, draw from the center of the bun outward to mingle the sauces and create a “ring of fire.” When the burger is placed in the middle of the bun, the colorful sauces create a beautiful corona surrounding the beef.

“We wanted to create an easy recipe for the eclipse watching parties,” said Ann Wittmann, executive director of the Wyoming Beef Council. “Burgers are one of the great American summer classics, so it is fitting to serve them during your Great American Eclipse celebration.”

With its wide-open spaces and low light pollution, the Cowboy State is one of the premier places to watch the total solar eclipse, which hasn't been seen since 1918. The eclipse's path of totality, where the moon completely blocks out the sun for the longest length of time, will cross the middle of Wyoming. Areas and communities located directly under this path will experience the eclipse for approximately 2.5 minutes.

The eclipse will be viewable for a lesser duration of time in communities located roughly 30 – 50 miles from the center of totality, but still within the eclipse’s path. To find out more, visit [TravelWyoming.com/Eclipse]TravelWyoming.com/Eclipse.
