Chicks ‘N Chaps Rocks Montana State Fair

by

Since it was started three years ago, the Chicks ’N Chaps event at the Montana State Fair has grown from 30 attendees to a phenomenal 200 chicks this year!

Chicks ‘N Chaps is an all women’s rodeo clinic during the Big Sky ProRodeo Roundup. Those attending get to spend time with rodeo cowboys learning how to rope, ride the buckin’ machine (only if you want to) as well as basic information on what the sport of rodeo is and how it’s done.

While it’s a lot of fun, the money earned goes to a great cause.  Profits raised from the event will be donated to the Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute Circle of Hope Survivorship Program.

Haylie Shipp spoke with Erin Townsend, one of the members of the Chicks ’N Chaps committee before the 2011 event got underway Thursday.

For more information about the event, which is likely to be celebrating its fourth anniversary at Montana State Fair in 2012, visit their website.
