CHS Co-op to Build 27,000-ton Fertilizer Hub Plant

by

LEWISTOWN, MONT.,  – CHS Central Montana Co-op announced plans to enhance its products and services to area farmers and ranchers with a new fertilizer hub plant at its Kershaw location outside Fort Benton, Mont. The planned facility will store approximately 27,000 tons of dry fertilizer and access the BNSF from the recently upgraded 110-car shuttle loop track already at the location. Construction is expected to begin in early 2016 and completed by spring 2017.

“This is the next level in our long-term plan to build out resources for our patrons here in central Montana,” said Roque Fairbanks, chairman, CHS Central Montana Co-op Board of Directors. “Three years ago, we strengthened our ability to get bushels to market through a new shuttle loader and we’ve continued to upgrade the location ever since.”

“This new hub plant helps us ensure that all-important stable supply of fertilizer for our customers,” said Keith Schumacher, general manager, CHS Central Montana Co-op. “It’s one more way we can help our owners grow their businesses.
