News Release from the Wyoming Business Council

CASPER, Wyo. – A special sale for Wyoming Premium Heifer program bred and replacement heifers is scheduled for Nov. 12, 2014.

The sale will be held via Internet video through Cattle USA at www.cattleusa.com.    The sale will be managed by Buffalo Livestock Auction starting at 1 p.m. MST. Buyers may register at Cattle USA or call the auction market at 307-684-0789.

The Wyoming Premium Heifer Program, a joint venture between the University of Wyoming’s Animal Science Department and the Wyoming Business Council’s Agribusiness Division, is designed to develop and market bred and replacement heifer calves certified under a standard set of guidelines.  All certified heifers are required to have an official program tag.

“This is the third year of doing this sale and it has been very successful,” said John Henn, livestock and meat marketing program manager at the Business Council. “The premiums sellers receive in the special sale are higher than that in the regional markets. For buyers, there is also a benefit. They know that every animal in the sale has been raised following a specific set of guidelines. The quality of the replacement heifers in this sale is some of the best Wyoming has to offer.”

Potential buyers may view the certified cattle listing and program guidelines on the Wyoming Beef Cattle List at www.wyobeef.com or call Henn at 307.777.2847 for more information on the program.
