The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m.
A 58-year-old North Dakota man was southbound in a Dodge pickup truck on Highway 516 in Sheridan County, just a few miles from the North Dakota state border.
When the man entered the intersection, the truck collided with a westbound commercial tractor.
The tractor was driven by a 46-year-old Canadian man who was not injured in the crash.
The patrol said it was unclear who had the right-of-way. It's also unknown whether the man in the truck was wearing a
Drugs,
Roads were slick and snow-covered at the time of the crash, the patrol said.
The investigation is ongoing.
This was the sixth fatality on Montana roadways in 2017.
