Food Safety Management Training Scheduled for Great Falls, Bozeman, and Billings
Training Sponsored by Montana Food and Agriculture Development Network, USDA Specialty Crop Program, and Montana Department of Agriculture
Helena, Mont., The Montana Food and Agriculture Development Center Network, in conjunction with the USDA Specialty Crop Program and the Montana Department of Agriculture, will be sponsoring Food Safety Management System Tool Kit trainings in three locations throughout the state.
The trainings will take place on Tuesday, March 10 in Great Falls, on Wednesday, March 11 in Bozeman, and on Friday, March 13 in Billings. Each session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of this training is free for specialty crop processors and producers and $75 for non-specialty crop processors and producers. This training is geared toward established food businesses. All participants will receive the workbook and digital templates of the Food Safety Management System Tool Kit. Normally a $50 value, this 200+ page manual provides policies, procedures and record keeping documents in a template format that is easily customizable for individual businesses.
The training will cover the “what and whys” of providing a safe food product, step-by-step directions for performing food safety related tasks, and documentation procedures. The instructor is Jan Tusick, manager of the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center, who has more than 30 years of experience in food processing and food safety.
