Fremont County Farm and Ranch Days, Riverton WY

More than 38 presentations, a lunch appearance by new Fremont County Commissioners, and the national champion FFA speaker from Casper will tackle GMOs during the 33rd annual Fremont County Farm and Ranch Days Wednesday-Thursday, Feb. 8-9 in Riverton.

Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m. both days at the Armory Building at the fairgrounds. Lunches are free both days. The two-day schedule is at bit.ly/2017farmandranch.

In addition, private pesticide applicator training sessions are Thursday, offered by Robert Finley of the Fremont County Weed and Pest District and Chance Marshall, University of Wyoming Extension educator based in Fremont County.

Wednesday’s 22 sessions include vehicle titling changes in Fremont County, a Dave Ramsey endorsed local provider will present finance management strategies for debt, grant assistance for ag producers and small businesses, understanding PAP testing in cattle, building low tunnels, a Wyoming predation survey, regulatory updates affecting production, soil health for forage production, effects of mineral nutrition on cow health and reproduction and the veterinary feed directive.

Trey Campbell of the Casper FFA will present “OMG/GMOs” during lunch Wednesday. County Commissioners Clarence Thomas, representing District 1, and Jennifer McCarty, representing District 5, will attend the Thursday lunch.

Wyoming State Veterinarian Jim Logan will give a Wyoming Livestock Board update, and other sessions Thursday include mentoring the next farm/ranch generation, current investment climate, grazing strategies during drought, fire prevention measures, lawn care, canning meat and steam canning, identifying rodent pests, growing grapes and financial risk management.
