Frigid Weather Heats Up Hay Concerns

UPDATE  Results of the Central Montana Hay Auction are listed below.

There’s nothing like a cold snap to make you take a critical look at your hay inventory.  If the view from your Hydra Bed is a little bleak, the Central Montana Hay Auction is taking place this afternoon in Moore.  Don’t want to brave the wintery roads?  You can bid online or through one of their sale day phones!

Kyle Shobe, World Livestock Auctioneer Champion and Auctioneer with United Country Shobe Auction and Realty, told Northern Ag yesterday that rougly 700 ton of 2010 hay will be up for sale.  The starting bid will be between $45 and $50 per ton.  There is a variety from straight alfalfa to alfalfa/grass mix and the sellers will load the hay up to the first of February.

The hay auction will kick off today at 1:30 (MST).  CLICK HERE to find more details.
