We often hear about companies or celebrities making choices that cause the agriculture industry to turn away from their product. Furniture Row, the all-in-one location for Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions and Denver Mattress Company, has made an appreciated move in the other direction.
When the family that owns Furniture Row saw a link between the tendency for furniture manufacturing to go overseas and the possibility that food production could do the same, they wanted to protect our industry. A Nascar Sprint Cup Series Car, with the words “Farm American” across its hood, is the medium they are using to achieve that goal.
Pat Driscoll is with corporate relations for Furniture Row Racing and spoke with Haylie Shipp while at the 2011 Cattle Industry Convention and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Trade Show.
He explained more about the car and the purpose of the program.
Pat says that while the Furniture Row family is glad to step up for agriculture, they’re now hoping that the industry will also make that move.
The NCBA and roughly two dozen other organizations have joined Furniture Row Racing as “Communications Partners.” This partnership, created by the company exclusively for membership organizations, allows them ownership in the program in exchange for their commitment to tell the story of the program back to members on a regular basis.
