Gas Prices Start to Affect Cattle Markets

by

Record high cattle prices and extremely high fuel costs have each been in their own, separate spotlight recently.  According to Jim Bower of Bower Trading, those spotlights are now starting to overlap.

In speaking with the commodity broker last week, he told us that rising fuel prices have now hit a point that they are affecting the cattle markets.

Jim added that when consumers make those decisions, it particularly affects the cattle market in the near future.  While he says that he doesn’t think the cattle market bullishness is over, he is becoming more concerned about how the rising price of gasoline will play in.
