Head outside in many parts of our region and it won’t take you long before your clothing turns black with gnats and your skin turns red with bite welts. As the outside work continues regardless of the insects, what has worked for you? We pulled together some remedies that are rumored to work as well as some that aren’t worth the time:
What works:
- Vanilla Extract
- Old Spice Cologne
- Banana Boat Sport Sunscreen
- Buggspray Brand “Original Buggspray (Vanilla) Clean Scent Insect Repellent”
- Bull Frog with SPF (from Nikki – they still annoy you but don’t bite as bad)
- Vanilla Car Air Freshener (from DJ – hung off of the back of his hat!)
- Bounce Dryer Sheets (from Dani – put them in your belt loops, keep in camper/tent)
- Vanilla Mixed with Baby Oil (from Myra – have to reapply, but smells good!)
What doesn’t:
- Regular Mosquito Spray
What works on bites:
- Benadryl Cream
