Governor’s Agricultural Summit to be Held June 1 & 2 in Brookings

PIERRE, S.D. – The seventh annual Governor’s Agricultural Summit hosted by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA) will be held on June 1 and 2 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. Pre-registration is required and will be accepted through Tuesday, May 31, at www.sdagsummit.com.

“The Governor’s Agricultural Summit provides an opportunity for stakeholders from all aspects of agriculture to come together to talk about the state’s largest industry,” said interim Secretary of Agriculture Dr. Dustin Oedekoven. “People attending the summit have the chance to connect with people of similar interests to talk about where the industry is right now in South Dakota and what needs to happen moving forward to ensure agriculture remains a driving force for our state’s economy.” (Download OedekovenSummit here)

The Summit kicks off with an ag tour to provide attendees a closer look at agriculture in the east central region of the state. The following day’s program will focus on agricultural policy, weather’s impact on agriculture, water quality and showcase how some of our state’s producers are incorporating a variety of conservation practices into their operations.

As a part of the summit, an individual or organization is recognized for their contributions to South Dakota’s agricultural industry through the Governor’s Ag Ambassador Award. Gov. Dennis Daugaard will present the 2016 Ag Ambassador Award June 2, at the luncheon.
