According to an article from the Cody Enterprise, a grizzly bear has attacked an killed a horse in the Carter Mountain area near Cody, Wyoming. A Game and Fish (G&F) specialist says that preying on horses is highly unusual.
While the article tells that G&F had not identified the owner of the animal, Cody area rancher Tom Bales has claimed the horse as his. The 11-year-old mare was “on his family’s deeded private property, in a pasture she had been sharing with her colt and a gelding.”
