Aerial hay drops are planned today for a large number of horses without enough forage east of Billings. The condition of the animals, which reportedly belong to James H. Leachman, has led to filed charges of five counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Leachman is set to appear in Justice Court on Friday afternoon.
KTVQ, the Billings CBS affiliate, spoke to Leachman over the phone on Wednesday. While they report that he would not comment on the horses, “he did say he still has leases on Indian Trust land near the ranch…and redemption rights, which means he could buy the ranch back by July 15th.”
