Increasing the Profitability of Rangelands

by

This year much of the United States remains abnormally dry and in the South and Southwest farmers and ranchers are still facing severe drought.

Last year in this region, however, it wasn’t drought that farmers and ranchers had to deal with but TOO much water. And many of these farms and ranches and other low lying areas could now be facing an outbreak of weeds from the flood waters.

During the 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show, Roxanne Guschenritter with DuPont Crop Protection talked with the Northern Ag Network’s Russell Nemetz about what weeds we should be on the look out for.

The Winifred, Montana native says in addition to Cimmaron, DuPont Crop Protection is also working on a new class of pasture and rangeland herbicides, and will be bringing them to the market in the near future.

And she says producers would be amazed at just how much profit these weeds are stealing from their pasture and rangelands each year.
