Insurance… for the Weather?

by

Insurance for weather – it may sound a bit out there, especially after a year like we’ve had.

However, Jeff Hamlin with Weather Bill tells us that weather insurance is exactly what his company is offering.

Jeff says that this is normally used as a supplement to federal crop insurance.

So how does this work for a producer?

Jeff outlined what sort of weather problems might trigger a payment under Weather Bill.

Notice the use of the word “presumably.”  Jeff says that even if the yields are better than ever, the fact that you had to contend with subpar weather at some point in the growing season is enough to trigger a payment.
