KGHL Radio Celebrates 84th Anniversary

The oldest radio station in Billings, MT is celebrating is celebrating its 84th Anniversary.

Found on the dial at AM 790, KGHL went on the air on June 8, 1928. Calvin Coolidge was President of the United States, the cartoon star Mickey Mouse makes his debut as Steamboat Willie and Aviator Amelia Earhart becomes the first woman to successfully pilot an aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean.

Since 1928, The Mighty 790 has had a great heritage of serving listeners in its 20 county coverage area in Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming with local programming and the station continues that heritage today.

KGHL is also the flagship station for the “Powerful Voice of the West” the Northern Ag Network which has been serving Agriculture with the latest in Ag news, weather and markets since 1975.

This week the Northern Ag Network’s Russell Nemetz and KTVQ’s Meteorologist Ed McIntosh talked with KGHL Sales Manager Ray Massie about the station’s 84th Anniversary.
