Miles City Goes Above and Beyond to Enhance Ag. Education

After several years of working with the Miles City community, agricultural leaders, businesses and individuals donors Miles Community College proudly cut the ribbon on the brand new MCC Ag Advancement Center.

Enrollment has lessened over the years due to the lack of facilities required to properly educate and meet the needs of all interested students. Therefore, Miles Community College needed an appealing indoor agriculture education center to recruit and educate students wanting to further their knowledge in the fields of Agriculture and Equine Studies. In an effort to meet this need, the Miles Community College Board of Trustees and Endowment Board, along with members of the Miles City community, supported the need for the Miles Community College Ag Advancement Center. The indoor learning center will provide an opportunity to increase enrollment within the Agriculture and Equine programs and become the epicenter of learning for southeastern Montana Agriculture and Equine students.

Agriculture is the number one industry in eastern Montana. Miles City is centrally located in eastern Montana and a majority of the population in eastern Montana conducts their everyday business in Miles City. Custer County ranks third in the state for value of sales of cattle and fourth in the state for the number of cattle raised.

The fundraising goal was set at $3.2 million dollars. After community members donated their time and resources to see this vision become a reality, a beautiful learning center has now been built to enhance ag. education in Eastern Montana.
