Montana Farm Bureau at AFBF National Convention

by Brett McRae

35 Montana Farm Bureau members have joined fellow state Farm Bureau’s at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah this week. At the 105th annual convention MFBF was recognized for Awards of Excellence given to state Farm Bureaus that demonstrate outstanding achievements in Advocacy, Coalitions and Partnerships, Engagement and Outreach and Leadership and Business Development.

MFBF Executive Vice President Scott Kulbeck says members are enjoying the opportunity to network with their peers.

“One of the things that I think is so great for this convention being close is that we were able to bring a nice contingent of Montana farm bureau members, we’ve got 35 members here. They’re visiting with their friends that they’ve met over the years from other state Farm Bureaus, really taking the opportunity to network, go to workshops and learn more, and bring back things that will help them on their farm or their ranch.”

Miles City Ag Teacher and Young Farmer and Rancher Todd Lackman made it to the semifinals in American Farm Bureau’s National Discussion Meet. Kulbeck says Todd Represents the leaders in Montana Farm Bureau’s YF&R Program.

“I’m so very proud of our young farmer and rancher program, where we’re developing the next leaders. Todd is a great example of that, he’s proven through the discussion meet that he’s one of the top sixteen participants in that leadership program in the United States. So its very impressive and that’s the kind of people that we’re bringing through our organization, that will give us hope for the future to lead us.”
