For 40 years the Montana Range Days has provided youth and adults alike the opportunity to learn about the complexity of the rangelands the ranchers and outdoor enthusiasts utilize every day.

This event has become a key component to promote sustainable agricultural and natural resource education in Montana.  Rangeland education is not only important for cattle producers, but for everyone who enjoys the outdoors from fishermen to bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

The Montana Range Days Steering Committee has developed curriculum that will enable you to learn about plant taxonomy, plant anatomy, plant identification, soils, rangeland ecology, and rangeland inventory and determining accurate stock rates.  The workshops are facilitated by NRCS staff, MSU Extension, members of the MRD Steering Committee and volunteers.

At the end of the 3 day event there is a competition in age and/or group category to gauge what you learned during the workshops.  Awards are presented by division: Buckaroos (4-8 years) Eco-System Explorers (8 years) Super Starters (9-11 years) Wranglers (12-13 years); Youth (14-19 years and have not graduated from high school) and Adult; Open Adult; and Rancher Division.
