MSU Set to Host Montana Farm to School Summit

by

BOZEMAN — Montana State University will host the Montana Farm to School Summit, “Sprouting Success,” Sept. 22-23.

The summit will cover information about how Montana schools, early care and education sites and afterschool programs are successfully integrating core elements of the farm to school movement, including serving local foods, cultivating school gardens and providing nutrition, agriculture and food education. The event will include workshops, field trips and networking opportunities that have been designed to provide inspiration and build skills.

The conference will feature chef Ann Cooper, a nationally renowned advocate for improving school meals, as well as Montana farm to school champions who will share their stories and experiences. Known as the “Renegade Lunch Lady,” Cooper has been a chef for more than 30 years, with more than 15 of those in school food programs. She currently serves as the director of nutrition services for the Boulder Valley school district in Colorado.

Registration for the conference closes Sept. 9.
