BILLINGS, MT (March 20, 2017) – For a lot of people, it has been a long, cold and snowy winter. So, with the Spring Equinox arriving in the wee hours of March 20, 2017, the official start of the spring season was some very welcomed news.
On the equinoxes the Sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal – but not quite.The March equinox marks the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from south to north and vice versa in September.
This week the Northern Ag Network's Russell Nemetz and KTVQ Meteorologist Ed McIntosh spoke with NASA scientist Dr. Nicki Viall from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland about the spring equinox and the upcoming total solar eclipse.
