State to hold noxious weeds list review

Bismarck, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) will be hosting a public hearing to review the state noxious weeds list on Thursday, March 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in their 6th floor conference room at the State Capitol.

“This is an opportunity for North Dakota farmers, ranchers, applicators, landowners and others to provide comments about the current list of noxious weeds in the state,” says Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring.

A public review of the noxious weeds list is required by the North Dakota Century Code to be held every five years. The last review of noxious weeds listed in the state was done in January 2010.

“With input from the citizens of North Dakota we can better identify noxious weeds of concern,” according to Goehring.

The public is invited to attend this review to provide comments to NDDA decision makers. If you are unable to attend in person, a call-in number has been established at 888-346-3659; passcode 3202. Written comments will be accepted until March 26, 2015.

In addition, the public is asked to complete an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MPCCL32.

NDDA will review all comments and provide notification of changes, if any, by April 2, 2015.
