North Dakota Grain Growers Association to Host EPA Officials at Annual E-Tour

FARGO, N.D. (June, 16 2016) – The North Dakota Grain Growers Association is hosting its annual E-Tour to highlight the environmental stewardship of the state’s agriculture. EPA officials from Washington and Region 8 headquarters in Denver will tour several locations across western North Dakota from June 20 to 24.

E-Tour participants will visit family farms and agricultural businesses for demonstrations on pesticide application and presentations by members of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture. NDGGA President John Weinand says the event is a great opportunity for EPA officials to get practical experience with the products they regulate. “The E-Tour is a great way to get them out on farms to see how precise the equipment we’re using now is,” he said. It helps them understand how changes to regulations really affect farmers,” he said.

The NDGGA has been hosting the event since 1993. This year’s tour will feature stops in Minot, Berthold, Stanley, Epping, Williston, Medora, Belfield, New Salem, Hazen, Linton and Bismarck. Weinand says E-Tour attendance has been growing in recent years. “If someone is interested in joining the NDGGA, the E-Tour is the perfect opportunity to come out and see first hand the work we’re doing on behalf of our members,” he said. “The more support we get, the more opportunities we’ll have to do things like this that benefit all farmers in the state.”

The tour is open to the public, and a full itinerary is available at ndgga.com/events. For more information please call NDGGA Executive Director Dan Wogsland at 701-282-9361.
