NRCS Again Extends CSP Sign-Up

by

The deadline for sign-up into the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) has again been extended by the Natural Resources Conservation Service.  The new deadline is January 21, 2011.

CSP provides many conservation benefits including improvement of water and soil quality, wildlife habitat enhancement and adoption of conservation activities. All producers are encouraged to apply for CSP. The program, authorized in the 2008 Farm Bill, offers payments to producers who maintain a high level of conservation on their land and who agree to adopt higher levels of stewardship. Eligible lands include cropland, pastureland, rangeland and non-industrial forestland.

Financial and technical assistance offered through CSP will help producers improve, manage, or maintain the conservation practices currently on their property, as well as help plan for the future.
