Oldest Continuously-Registered Ranch For Sale

by

The following is a press release from Sublime Public Relations:

Wyoming Hereford Ranch (WHR), the oldest continuously-registered livestock operation in the United States just hit the market for $10.3 million. It consists of 2,885± acres and boasts an exquisite 12,000 sq. ft. manor and impressive 22,000± sq. ft. indoor arena – all located minutes from Cheyenne, WY.

Seven years before WY would join the Union in statehood, Alexander Hamilton Swan had his eyes set on making his Wyoming range known for Hereford cattle. Arriving in the 1870s and utilizing investment capital from Scotland, Swan created a literal empire, consisting of one million acres of land and more than 100,000 head of cattle. Swan decided to establish a large registered Hereford herd, which he did in 1882 under the name of Wyoming Hereford Cattle and Land Association. In 1883, by ship and rail, 146 head from eight of the leading English herds arrived, and the legacy of Wyoming Hereford Ranch was born.
