Petition to Stop Bison Travels MT’s Hi Line

by

As Montana’s Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks continues to discuss the idea of having a wild, free-ranging bison herd in the state…residents in Phillips and Valley Counties are circulating a petition to oppose such a move.

Valley County Commissioner Dave Pippin says residents in Glasgow and Malta are very concerned about the concept of free ranging bison…

Pippin says he worries about the impact of the bison on cattle grazing…impacts on private property such as fencing…and continued concerns over brucellosis.

Pippin added that concerns over a new potential national monument designation from Fort Benton to Fort Peck are only adding fuel to the fire as FWP’s discussions over a free-range bison herd continue.
