Police Search for Culprit in N. Dakota Cattle Killings

by

HANKINSON (AP) — State and county investigators are asking for help in tracking down the killer of 14 cattle in a pasture about eight miles southwest of Hankinson.

Richland County Sheriff’s officials say that the cattle were killed late Thursday or early Friday. The culprit apparently entered the pasture area owned by David Kluge of Hankinson and opened fire.

Kluge tells investigators that 13 cattle died immediately. Another was injured and had to be destroyed. The cattle were valued at an estimated $30,000.

The sheriff’s office is being assisted by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the North Dakota Stockman’s Association. People with information are asked to call 701-642-7711.
