Public Can Access Extension Expertise During Natrona County Open House

by

Getting tips for landscaping, cooking demonstrations and preserving fruits and vegetables are among topics at the open house of the Natrona County office of University of Wyoming Extension, Saturday, Sept. 17, in Casper.

The event is 9 a.m.-noon at the Agricultural Resource and Learning Center, 2011 Fairgrounds Rd., said extension educator Hannah Swanbom.

Those attending can tap into the expertise of extension educators and specialists, including community development, 4-H, horticulture, agriculture, nutrition and Master Gardeners.

The WyoScape Xeric Demonstration Garden at the facility was named a Habitat Hero garden by the Terra Foundation for being water-wise and wildlife friendly.

The open house coincides with the Master Gardener Farmers Market at the facility. Nutrition and food safety educators and representatives from extension’s Cent$ible Nutrition Program will prepare food and provide information, including how to preserve fruits and herbs.

Building tours, how to make an emergency plan for pets and horses in emergencies and a meet and greet with 4-H youth junior leaders are also planned.
