R-CALF Issues “10 Days of Opposition”

by

In the days leading up to Christmas, R-CALF USA has put out a series of 10 press releases all linked to their “10 Days of Opposition to USDA’s Proposed Mandatory Animal Identification Rule” campaign.

Haylie Shipp spoke with Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA, about the reason for this staged release.

Among the group’s arguments against this traceability proposal are liability concerns for the cow/calf producer, putting responsibility on a farmer or rancher for a disease the government allowed in, the money involved in implementing the system and the non-acceptance of the hot iron brand as an official identification for cattle.  CLICK HERE for more from R-CALF USA on this topic.

The USDA is currently reviewing the public comments that they received and have not yet come out with an official rule.
