Ranchers Day at the NILE, Billings MT

Ranchers Day at the NILE Featuring Juan Reyes Livestock Handling.

Juan Reyes of MR Angus Ranch understands livestock because he's handled them most of his life . . . a lot of them, in all kinds of conditions and terrain. Reducing stress and working cattle more efficiently is a primary goal for ranchers today, and the Reyes seminar during NILE 2015 offers a window that could inspire a paradigm shift in stock handling for many. Enhancing Juan's own wisdom and expertise is that of his dogs – dogs he has specifically bred and trained for years for this single purpose. As a team, they present a tremendous learning opportunity.

“Stockmanship is the most important thing people might take home from this demonstration,” the soft spoken rancher says.
Juan and his dogs have been showing people better ways with livestock for many years. Just this fall he's demonstrated at the County Fair in Big Piney and given his annual Ag Day presentation to between eight and nine hundred Laramie County fourth grader's in Cheyenne, but he points out, “The demonstration during the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) convention in San Antonio last year is where we really started to focus on low stress handling.”
” “I think in the world we live in today, whether we want to or not, we've got to be aware of public perception,” Reyes says. “That's one of the reasons I do the low stress cattle handling. Not only does it work, but I believe it's good for the industry.”
The business of beef holds major importance in today's world and as our environment constantly evolves, industry must also evolve. Change often comes hard to agriculture, where perpetual rhythms and habits have endured for centuries, and many old ways and traditions are honored.
The NILE is proud to present Juan Reyes and his dogs on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in the Rimrock Auto Arena immediately following the AQHA Ranching Heritage Show.
