Save Gray Wolves or Pay a Lawyer?

In a Facebook post from Wednesday, Wyoming Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis announced proudly that she and other members of the House Natural Resource Committee had approved four “modest” bills to update the Endangered Species Act.

Lummis was especially proud of the passage out of committee of her bill, H.R. 4316.  Titled the “Endangered Species Recovery Transparency Act,” she explains that this bill requires tracking and reporting of all the money that is diverted from species recovery to cover lawyer fees and other litigation costs.

According to Lummis, all four of these bills are very targeted pieces of legislation that will help to bring the ESA into the 21st century.  They will soon be ready for consideration on the House floor.
