This will include:
The National Sheep Shearing Championships – Preliminaries start at 9 am, semi finals around 1 pm and professional finals will be showcased at 8 pm
The North American Sheep Dog Trials- Preliminaries begin at 1 pm, semi finals at 7:30 pm, finals at 8:30 pm.
Sheep to Shawl Demonstration by the Black Hills Fiber Arts Fair organization
American Lamb will be on the menu that day through the Kjerstad Center concessions provider.
Educational programs sponsored by SDSU Extension and sheep industry businesses
These may include:
1. Vet talk – topics such as parasite control, ewe and lamb health
2. Wool Quality and preparation for a high quality wool clip
3. Sheep Safety and Quality Assurance (SSQA)
4. Demonstration of ultra-sounding for pregnancy and loin muscle depth
5. Use of the OFDA 2000 for wool fiber diameter and comfort characteristics
