Sidney ARS Field Day features MSU wheat breeder and more on June 24th

The USDA-ARS Northern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory and the MSU Eastern Ag Research Center are joining forces for a 2016 Dryland Field Day set for Friday, June 24th from 9 am to 12:30 pm. The event features stops at both research farms with a special presentation on winter wheat from MSU professor and wheat breeder Phil Bruckner and demonstration of a cross slot drill by Roger Ashley, a retired agronomist with the NDSU research facility at Dickinson ND.  

Other tour talks include presentations on: herbicide resistant marestail, residual effects on pulses, macro and micro nutrients for cereals and pulses, diversified rotations with cereals, pulses and oilseeds, a model for preventing resistant weed invasions, a special hands on weed ID exercise and much more.

Activities conclude with a free lunch at 12:30 pm sponsored by the Richland County Extension Office. The tour begins at the MSU dryland farm located about 4.5 miles north of Sidney on MT Highway 16. The farm turnoff is located on the right hand side immediately across from the Hi-Line Trucking building and will be marked.  Everyone welcome! Two private applicator points are available.
