Historic photographs are interesting for many reasons. This one of Lew and Mary Williams in a buggy in front of their Big Sag Ranch house near Geraldine taken in 1913 proves it. MHS chose it for the slice of ranch life it captures.
When we got looking at it closer, we noticed an insulator at the top of the rough pole near the fence with wires leading into the house. As we speculated that it probably is an rare early telephone line, we noticed something else. If you look closely in the foreground in front of the pole, you can see a ghostly apparition of a woman. It could be that someone darted in, and then out, just as the photo was being taken. But, there is always the ghost of a chance that …
