Time to Nominate Your Favorite Farm or Ranch Mom

by

SAN ANTONIO, TX (March 3, 2017) – Do you know an amazing farm mom? One who balances her life at home and on the farm with a passion for community and agriculture? Nominate her for a chance to be named National Farm Mom of the Year.

During the Commodity Classic, the Northern Ag Network's Russell Nemetz talked with Underwood, ND farmer Katie Heger, a 2016 regional winner about the “America's Farmers Mom of the Year” program.

How to Enter: Whether she’s your mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend, neighbor or even you, anyone can nominate his or her favorite farm mom. Tell us, in 300 words or less, what makes your nominee exceptional in the following areas:

  • Supporting Her Farm: From keeping the books to planting this year’s crop, how does your far mom play a key role in her farm’s success?
  • Supporting Her Community: How does your farm mom engage her community through ag organizations or other community activities?
  • Supporting Agriculture: How does your farm mom share her passion for farming while educating consumers and the next generation about agriculture?
  • Supporting Her Family: In addition to her daily responsibilities as a farmer and a mother, what does your farm mom do that goes above and beyond the expected?

Timing: Nominations will open on March 1, 2017 and close on March 31, 2017. Entries will be accepted via our online form or through the mail. Five regional winners will be chosen by American Agri-Women and public voting for the National Farm Mom of the Year will run from April 28-May 10, 2016.

Prizes: The American Agri-Women will select 5 regional winners to receive a $3,000 prize, plus $2,000 to donate to her favorite charity. Winner of the coveted national title, selected by the public, will receive an additional $2,000 to donate to that same charity or another charity of her choice.
