Photo of Evelyn Cameron on horse

Evelyn Cameron ranched near Terry and tried to raise polo ponies to send back to her native England. She is now remembered most for her photographs showing  the frontier history of eastern Montana. In this photo taken sometime between 1905 and 1915 Evelyn climbed up on the back her horse Jim. This view shows her playfulness as well as her determination and courage to get the photos that she wanted. In the shadow in the foreground you can see the outline of the heavy box camera she used and the woman that she asked to expose the negative for this shot she had set up beforehand.
