Warm Weather Welcome by Area Producers

by

After an unusually moist summer for much of the region, the weather forecast for the next week looks like it going to bring dry heat.  That announcement is exactly what producers around the region were waiting for in order to get better control of harvest.

Lola Raska with the Montana Grain Growers Association explained to us just how welcome the heat is for producers and what problems we’re facing.

There is still green wheat in areas and Lola says that some Montana wind along with the warmth should help that.

About 70{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} of Montana’s barley is now malt-variety.  Lola tells us that most of the contracted acreage is in, but there is still some barley out in the fields.
